We've simplified how you buy and sell crypto on NBX. This article explains how it works now, what's new, and what it means for you.
How to buy or sell
- Choose whether to buy or sell, and which crypto.
- Enter an amount, or use the quick options (10%, 25%, 50%, 75%, MAX).
- You'll instantly see:
- You will pay – what the trade costs you
- You will get (est.) – how much you'll receive, an estimate
- Price per coin (est.) and Fee (est.)
- Tap Buy or Sell to confirm. The trade goes through instantly.
The amounts are estimates because the price of crypto changes from second to second. When you confirm, the trade is filled at the best available price, so the final amount can vary slightly from the estimate.
What's new?
For most markets, you could previously place your own limit orders (orders where you set the price yourself) through advanced trading. This has now been phased out for those markets.
This means:
- On these markets you can no longer place limit orders or set your own price levels.
- You buy and sell at the market price you see; the final amount is an estimate and can vary slightly.
A small number of specialised markets still keep the order book and advanced trading (see "Which markets are affected?" below).
Frequently asked questions:
Why can't I place new orders anymore?
We've simplified trading. You now buy and sell at the price you see on screen, and no longer need to place your own orders or price levels. You choose an amount, see what you pay and get, and confirm.
Can I still place limit orders or set my own price?
No. Limit orders and advanced trading have been phased out. You always trade at the best available price when you confirm.
What happens to limit orders I'd already placed?
Any open orders were cancelled when the change went live, and the funds that were reserved for them have been returned to your balance. You don't need to do anything.
What happened to maker/taker orders and the order book?
The order book is no longer shown on these markets. Your trade is still filled at the best available price, which is why amounts are shown as estimates ("est."). Just choose an amount and confirm.
Why do I see "est." (estimate)?
Because the price of crypto moves constantly, and the amount you see is an estimate. Your trade is filled at the best available price at that moment, so the final amount can vary slightly from the estimate.
Can I spread my purchases over time?
Yes. Set up a recurring buy and you'll purchase regularly instead of all at once.
Have the fees changed?
No. The brokerage fee is unchanged — 0.7% per trade, shown clearly as "Fee (est.)" before you confirm.
Can I still see the price chart and do technical analysis?
Yes. The price chart is still available. Only the order book and market depth are no longer shown.
Does this affect my recurring buy (DCA / savings plan)?
No. Recurring buys work as before. They execute at the price you see, same as always.
Which markets are affected?
Most markets move to the new, simpler experience. A small number of specialised markets still keep the order book and advanced trading, such as VT, GNRC, PALM, FGLD and FSLVR.
Can I still buy with Visa or Mastercard?
Yes. Quickbuy with Visa and Mastercard stays the same. Max 100 000 NOK per card purchase.
What are the minimum trade amounts?
They're unchanged. See the overview of minimum amounts here.
I use the public API – is anything changing there?
